Ayer’s Cliff QC – An Evening with Hannah Miller, Kyshona & Mary Bragg

February 20 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Potluck dinner at 6 pm. Concert at 7.30 pm.

Featuring three extraordinary women whose amazing voices are equal parts soothing and inspiring.

Hannah Miller writes dark and soothing music that in the words of one perceptive listener “gives you half a feeling of happiness and half of loneliness”. Her dark, ambient style has been heard on shows such as This Is Us (seasons one and two), Sons of Anarchy, The Following and Pretty Little Liars as well as in several indie films (Little Women, Trash Fire, June Adrift, The Staying Kind, Other Versions of You) and in national advertising campaigns for companies like Pitney Bowes and DSW. She recently finished a couple of tours as support for the folk duo The Secret Sisters and released her 3rd full length record March 6, 2018 on boutique label Sorted Noise. She currently continues to write and release music regularly. Video: https://youtu.be/WXccbMSr8Ok

Kyshona Armstrong – If you’re out in the clubs in Nashville, you have a good chance of discovering the powerful, lyrical voice of Kyshona. The South Carolina native came to Nashville after a long stint in Athens, Ga.’s singer-songwriter circles. She soon found her place in the city as part of both the soul and rock scenes and has released two independent albums since then: 2014’s Go and 2016’s Ride. Kyshona is also a music therapist who has worked in correctional institutions in Georgia and Tennessee, and with mentally ill and elderly patients. The insights she’s gained as a therapist have fed her songwriting, helping to make her one of the most compassionate and uplifting young voices in Nashville today. Mary Bragg – For seasoned Americana artist Mary Bragg, her rawest, most personal album to date—Lucky Strike—appeared when she hadn’t even been planning to record a new album. After finding success writing for and with other artists (her co-written song “Easier Than Leaving” appeared on Michaela Anne’s recent release and was featured in Rolling Stone), Bragg had begun to consider devoting herself solely to songwriting. Then, Lucky Strike co-producer Jim Reilley (of indie stalwarts The New Dylans) heard a few of Bragg’s songs and insisted that they be recorded. She agreed—but only if she could skip the fancy studios (and budgets). “Lucky Strike was recorded in a backyard barn studio, where the microphones are old, not expensive-vintage-old, just old. Where the pop filters have holes in them. Where the vocal booth is unfinished because real walls never got built. It’s where ‘recorded live’ is for real recorded live, and everything is exposed.” The result is a stunning collection of songs that speaks to our common humanity with uncommon honesty.
