An Evening with Po Lazarus – NDG (Montreal) QC

polazarus

THIS EVENT IS SOLD-OUT

Join us for an intimate potluck dinner & house concert with Montreal quartet Po Lazarus.

Their stunning debut album ‘Ways To End The Night’ has just been released.

With their roots embedded in the mire of folk music, their sound has grown from basements and city places where they reside. With soaring coyote guitar, their songs are lifted to the canopy where the sun allows the flowers of the heart to bloom. Culminating with melodies of anthemic love dirges meant for the Spitbucket; the voice and words of Po Lazarus take the forefront and provoke a free-fall right back into the dirt from whence they came.

Prepare yourself to be blown away.

Here’s the essential info:

This will be an intimate livingroom concert with a max capacity of 35 folks on chairs, sofas, benches – or sitting on the floor.

Dinner will be 6-ish and will be potluck vegetarian. If you’re coming for dinner, get creative and make something you’d like to share.

If you’re coming for the concert only, seating will be open at 19h.

“Wow! From rocking out to Amanda McCoy & Pandel Collaros channeling their inner Jimmy Page/Robert Plant for an incredible blow-out-the-jams spine-tingling acoustic cover of Led Zep’s Whole Lotta Love to getting to hang out and share the experience with childhood friends.. The music… wow! Incredible performance by a tight duo of guitarslinger blues/folk singer-songwriters – original tunes mixed with a few covers – and a near-classic version of John The Revelator.. and a searing Deep South revisiting of The Night They Drove Ol’ Dixie Down…” – #37 Montreal QC July 29 2016

An afternoon with acclaimed Australian troubadour Jordie Lane (featuring Clare Reynolds) – Montreal QC

Jordie FSMF

“Displaying the soulful tenderness of Ron Sexsmith and Ray LaMontagne…Lane’s gentle finger picking and intimate vocals lend a somber grace that is universal” – Rolling Stone Magazine

Lane’s music, seems like it comes from another place and time. The songs are nostalgic and immediately affecting, his rhythmic guitar playing is authentic and raw, and the rich resonance of his voice is simply otherworldly.

It is a voice that has taken Lane around the world, performing major festivals in the US, Canada, UK and Australia, and touring with the likes of Billy Bragg, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Old Crow Medicine Show, Neko Case, Cat Power, Ruthie Foster and The Moody Blues.

Australia’s leading folk/roots magazine Rhythms have called Lane “one of Australia’s brightest new roots music stars” and Rolling Stone Magazine said his debut album Sleeping Patterns “may well come to be regarded as one of the most assured ever by a local artist”.

“Friends far and wide, Rolling Stone are exclusively premiering my brand new video! The idea was kinda insane and a risky undertaking, but was filmed exquisitely in a single-sequence one-camera take by the team at Around The World In 80 Music Videos.” – Jordie Lane, Feb 25 2016
